JNU PhD Admission Process
Application and Admission Cycle is normally November – December every year, check website.
PhD admissions at JNU can be pursued through multiple pathways, including the JNU Entrance Examination (JNUEE) and national-level examinations such as UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, JRF, and GATE.
Admission via UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/JRF
- Candidates who have qualified for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or have valid scores in UGC-NET or CSIR-NET are eligible to apply for PhD programs at JNU.
- For the current academic year, JNU considers the percentile from the NET Examination of the immediate previous year. Previous cycles’ scores or percentiles are not accepted.
- Applications must be submitted online through JNU’s official website.
- Depending on the program, applicants may need to participate in a viva voce examination.
- The weightage for NET/JRF scores and the interview varies by category, with some programs assigning 70% weightage to the NET/JRF score and 30% to the interview.
