The Wildlife Institute of India (WII), a premier institute for research and training in wildlife sciences, invites applications for its two-year residential M.Sc. Wildlife Science programme (2025-27). The course, affiliated with the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), offers theoretical knowledge and hands-on field training in wildlife science, ecology, and conservation.
Number of Seats
A total of 20 seats are available, including:
- 15 seats for Indian candidates (General, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS categories)
- 5 seats for foreign nationals (Preference for SAARC countries)
Unfilled foreign seats will be allocated to Indian candidates as per the Government of India reservation policy.
Eligibility for MSc Wildlife Science Course
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Medical Science, Engineering, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Forestry, Pharmacy, Social Sciences, or Computer Science.
- Minimum 50% aggregate marks for General/OBC candidates (45% for SC/ST).
- Final-year students awaiting results can apply but must submit proof of qualification before October 2025.
- Age Limit:
- General/OBC: Not more than 25 years as of March 31, 2025 (relaxation of 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST).
- In-service professionals (Forest/Wildlife Departments) & Foreign Nationals: Maximum 35 years as of March 31, 2025.
Selection Process
For Indian Candidates:
- Online National Eligibility Test (NET) covering general aptitude, quantitative skills, basic biology, ecology, and conservation.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a Personality and Aptitude Test (PAT)/Interview at WII, Dehradun.
- Final selection will be based on a 50% weightage for the NET score and 50% for PAT/interview performance.
For Foreign Candidates:
- Selection based on academic performance and an online interview.
- Candidates must provide proof of English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS score) if their native language is not English.
Course Fee & Scholarships
- Indian Nationals: Approx. INR 6,00,000 (payable in four equal installments).
- Foreign Nationals: Approx. USD 14,000.
- Scholarships: Full scholarships available for 8 meritorious Indian students based on Government of India reservation policy.
- A monthly stipend of INR 3,000 and dissertation support (subject to fund availability).

- Interview (PAT) for Shortlisted Candidates: May 19-22, 2025

- Application Fee: INR 1500 (General) / INR 1000 (Reserved Categories) for Indian candidates, USD 100 for foreign applicants.
