St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, invites applications for its two-year, full-time M.A. Psychology (Lifespan Counselling) programme for the academic year 2025-27. The programme is designed to provide advanced training in counselling psychology with a focus on different stages of human lifespan development.

MA Psychology Lifespan Counselling Program Details

  • Each semester covers different lifespan stages and their psychological aspects.
  • Supervised fieldwork aligned with the semester’s theme.
  • Mandatory personal development therapy in Semester I.
  • Emphasis on applied counselling and therapeutic skills.
  • Courses taught by practicing therapists and experts.
  • Research exposure culminating in a dissertation.
  • Degree awarded by the University of Mumbai.

Number of Seats

The total intake is 30 students per year, with seat reservations as follows:

  • Christian Minority: 12 seats
  • General Category: 11 seats
  • Persons with Disability: 1 seat
  • Special Category: 1 seat (for transferred employees, defense personnel, ex-servicemen, etc.)
  • Management Quota: 5 seats

Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in any faculty with a minimum of three psychology papers at the undergraduate level.
  • Diplomas, certificate courses, online courses, or distance education in psychology do not meet eligibility requirements.

Admission Process

Online Registration

  • Application link will be available on the official college website in mid-February 2025.
  • Last date to apply: 30 April 2025, 5:00 PM.
  • Applicants must submit demographic details, academic information, category-related documents, and Semester V marksheet.

Entrance Examination

  • Date: 4 May 2025 (Sunday), 10:00 AM
  • Mode: Offline, at St. Xavier’s College, Fort, Mumbai
  • Exam Structure:
    • Section I: Multiple-choice questions covering various psychology domains (70% weightage).
    • Section II: Essay question assessing reasoning and analytical ability (30% weightage).
  • Only candidates passing Section I will have their Section II evaluated.

Merit List & Admission

  • The first merit list will be released approximately 10 days after the entrance exam.
  • Selected candidates must pay the course fees within the deadline mentioned in the merit list notification.
  • Candidates on the waiting list will be offered admission if seats remain unfilled.

Course Fees

  • MA Part 1 (Semesters I & II): Rs. 1,50,000
  • MA Part 2 (Semesters III & IV): Rs. 1,50,000
    (Fees subject to revision with prior notification.)

Personal Interview

  • The final 30 admitted students will undergo an orientation interview with faculty.
  • This interview is not part of the selection process but serves as a counselling session to help students understand course expectations.

Last Date to Apply

  • Last date to apply: 30 April 2025, 5:00 PM
  • Entrance Exam: 4 May 2025 (Sunday), 10:00 AM (offline at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai)
  • Start of Classes: Mid-June 2025 (tentative, subject to university guidelines)
