According to the IIM Act, which was enacted last year, students enrolled in the Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) will not be awarded a degree after completing the first three years unless they choose to exit the programme.

For instance, if an IPM student appears for the CAT exam and secures admission to another IIM, such as IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Lucknow or Calcutta or for that matter any other college in India or abroad, they have the option to withdraw from the IPM programme and receive a Bachelor’s degree (Foundations of Management).

However, for those who continue in the programme, both the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (MBA) will be conferred upon successful completion of the full five-year duration (or the time taken to complete the programme).
