The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs)—located at Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, and Tirupati—invite applications for admission to their BS-MS, BS, and B.Tech programs for the academic year 2025-26 through the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025.

ADMISSION PROCESS
Admission to IISERs is based on the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025, (IISER Entrance Exam 2025) a computer-based test scheduled for Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 9:00 AM, conducted across various centers in India.
Candidates must specify their IISER preferences during the counseling process, which occurs after the declaration of IAT 2025 results. IISER preferences are not required during the application process.
The entire counseling process is online, and candidates do not need to visit any IISER in person.

ELIGIBILITY for IAT/ IISER
- Applicants must be Indian nationals, OCI/PIO cardholders, or Foreign Nationals.
- Candidates must have passed Class XII (or equivalent) with Science stream from a recognized board.
- Candidates must have studied at least three subjects from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics in Class XII.
- For admissions to specific programs, Mathematics is compulsory:
- BS-MS in Computational and Data Sciences (IISER Kolkata)
- B.Tech. programs (IISER Bhopal)
- BS in Economic Sciences (IISER Bhopal)
- BS in Economic and Statistical Sciences (IISER Tirupati)
Minimum marks requirement:
- General, EWS, OBC categories: 60% aggregate in Class XII
- SC, ST, PwD categories: 55% aggregate in Class XII
Candidates born on or after October 1, 2000, are eligible. SC, ST, and PwD candidates get a 5-year relaxation (born on or after October 1, 1995).
IISER APTITUDE TEST ( IAT 2025 )
- Mode: Computer-based test (CBT)
- Duration: 180 minutes
- Subjects Covered:
- Biology – 15 questions
- Chemistry – 15 questions
- Mathematics – 15 questions
- Physics – 15 questions
- Total Marks: 240
- Marking Scheme:
- +4 marks for correct answers
- -1 mark for incorrect answers
- 0 marks for unanswered questions
Candidates who qualify the IAT 2025 Rank Cut-off will be considered for admission. Securing a rank does not guarantee admission.

- The fee is non-refundable and must be paid during the application submission process.
COUNSELING AND SEAT ALLOCATION
- Admission offers are based on:
- IAT 2025 rank
- Seat availability at each IISER
- Preferences submitted by the candidate
- Candidate’s category
- Candidates can choose from two options:
- Freeze – Accept the allotted IISER and do not participate in further rounds.
- Float – Accept the current seat but remain in the allocation process for a higher-preference IISER.
- Important: Candidates must take action in every round (Freeze/Float). Failure to do so will result in withdrawal from further counseling rounds.

Candidates must pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) to confirm admission. Failure to pay will disqualify the candidate from further counseling rounds.

EWS and OBC-NCL certificates must be issued on or after April 1, 2025.
OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS
- Compensatory Time: PwD candidates with at least 40% disability are eligible for one extra hour during the IAT 2025.
- Scribe Services: PwD candidates requiring assistance must request a scribe during the application process.
- Foreign Nationals: Candidates who are not Indian citizens and do not hold OCI/PIO cards can apply but must provide an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

The IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025 scores will also be used for admission to the following programs:

- Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) – BS in Medical Sciences & Engineering
