Eligibility
Candidates must have a minimum of second class or equivalent in the following degrees:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/4-year Bachelor of Science – Valid GATE score / NET JRF is mandatory.
- Master’s degree in Science / Economics / Geography / Psychology / Management / Commerce / Operations Research / Computer Science/Application – Valid GATE score / NET JRF is mandatory.
- Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Agriculture / Pharmacy / Veterinary Sciences – GATE/NET JRF/GPAT desirable.
- MS/MBA (post BE/B Tech/MSc) (for Management Studies & Ecological Sciences) – GATE/NET JRF desirable.
- Graduates of any course (minimum 4 years) from a Centrally Funded Technical Institution (CFTI) with CGPA of 8 out of 10 or equivalent – GATE/NET JRF desirable.
- MBBS/MD/MDS/PharmD – GATE/NET JRF desirable.
- B Pharm – GPAT/NET JRF mandatory.
- BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) – NET JRF mandatory.
- BE/B Tech equivalent exams of Professional Societies (AMIE, etc.) recognized by MoE/UPSC/AICTE (enrolled before 31.05.2013) – GATE/NET JRF mandatory.
- Master’s degree in Life Sciences/Chemical Sciences from IISc with CGPA 8.5 or above (for PhD only) – GATE/NET JRF mandatory (no minimum cutoff).
- 1-Year M.Engg from IISc – Must have been admitted via GATE.
GATE/GPAT/NET JRF scores must be valid as of August 1, 2025.
Selection Procedure
Candidates will be shortlisted for an in-person interview based on their national entrance test score and/or qualifying degree performance. Selection will be based on interview performance, and some departments may conduct an aptitude test/preliminary interview before the final selection.
