Are IGNOU students eligible for NET?

Yes, IGNOU students who clear the required degree are eligible for NET.

Can IGNOU students apply for PHD ?

Yes, students who have cleared Master’s from IGNOU with the required score are eligible to pursue PhD.

How much is IGNOU’s passing marks ?

Check individual course for breakup between assignments and exam etc. Overall for most of the courses passing marks is 35% for each subject.

IGNOU and NIOS which is better?

There is no comparisson, IGNOU is for Higher Education i.e. is post intermediate/10+2, NIOS is for school education i.e. till 10+2/intermediate.

What are the drawbacks of IGNOU?

  • IGNOU is a large set up, many of you will find their process very slow.
  • Students have complained about IGNOU in Quora and Reddit of lack of professionalism at the study centres.
  • IGNOU degrees, though legaly are at par with other Indian universities but some corporates may prefer students from full time programs.
  • Unlike other online programs, IGNOU programs and study materials are pretty comprehensive. That is, if you consider it as a disadvantage.
