Internship Scheme
The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, announces the IGNCA Internship Scheme. This scheme provides an opportunity for students pursuing Graduate/Postgraduate degrees or Research Scholars from recognized universities/institutions in India or abroad to gain exposure as “Interns.”
These interns will contribute to various Divisions/Units within IGNCA, supplementing the processes of analysis through empirical collection and collation of in-house and other academic inputs. This exposure will enhance their understanding of the functioning of an art institution and aid in their professional development.
Stipend and Duration
- Stipend: Rs. 10,000 per month to cover conveyance and daily needs.
- Duration: Minimum six weeks and up to six months.

IGNCA Internship Scheme Overview
- Name of the Scheme: IGNCA Internship Scheme
- Purpose:
To allow short-term engagement of selected candidates with IGNCA’s Divisions/Units for mutual academic and professional benefit. - Objectives:
a. Foster collaboration between IGNCA and young academic talent.
b. Enable interns to understand IGNCA’s functions and contribute to policy formulation through research, briefing reports, and policy papers.
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to Graduate/Postgraduate students and Research Scholars enrolled in recognized universities/institutions in India or abroad.
Logistics and Support
- Interns must bring their own laptops. IGNCA will provide workspace, internet, and other necessities as deemed fit by the respective Division/Unit Heads.
Procedure for Application
- Interested candidates should apply using the prescribed format (Annexure ‘A’) available on the IGNCA website.
- A letter from the Supervisor/Head of Department/Principal confirming student status and granting “No Objection” is mandatory for joining.
Selection Process
- Applications will be scrutinized by the respective Divisions/Units of IGNCA.
- A maximum of three interns will be taken per Division/Unit at a time.
- Selected candidates will receive an offer of internship from the Establishment Section.
Other Modalities
- Interns must submit a brief report or paper summarizing their work at the end of the internship.
- Seminars and presentations may be conducted by the concerned Heads for interns.
- Attendance records and conduct supervision will be maintained by the Division/Unit Heads.
