General Requirements

DTU PhD 2025 Admission Process
Entrance Test
The entrance test is mandatory for most applicants and will carry 70% weightage in the final selection process.
Entrance Test Details:
Duration: 90 minutes
Format: Computer-based multiple-choice test conducted at the DTU campus.
Syllabus:
50% Research Methodology: Includes topics such as hypothesis formulation, research design, statistical techniques, data interpretation, and scholarly communication.
50% Subject-Specific Knowledge: Tailored to the discipline applied for, covering fundamental and advanced topics in the field.
Interview and Presentation
Shortlisted candidates will present their research ideas during the interview stage, which carries 30% weightage. Applicants are expected to prepare a 7–8 slide presentation on their proposed area of research.
Direct Admission
The entrance test is waived for candidates with:
Valid JRF, UGC-NET, GATE, CEED, or equivalent scores.
Industry professionals or faculty members under DTU’s special provisions.
