About CIAB
The Centre of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB) is an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. CIAB focuses on advancing technologies relevant to the agri-food sector, including value addition to bioproducts, crop waste valorization, and biosynthetic technologies.
CIAB PhD 2025 Program Details
CIAB invites applications for its Ph.D. program in Chemical and Biological Sciences for the session beginning January 2025. The selected candidates will be enrolled at IISER Mohali, and the Ph.D. degree will be awarded by IISER Mohali.
Candidates with their own fellowship (e.g., DBT/ICAR/CSIR/UGC-JRF) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Eligibility Criteria for CIAB PhD 2025
Educational Qualifications:
- M.Sc. in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Life Sciences, or M.E./M.Tech in relevant fields (Biotechnology, Bioprocessing, etc.).
- Candidates appearing for the final year exam with a fellowship are also eligible (must provide proof of degree completion before joining).
Fellowship Requirement:
- Applicants must have their own fellowship (e.g., CSIR/UGC/DBT/DST/ICAR/ICMR) or secured funding from national agencies.
- Valid score in national-level tests like CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICAR/ICMR/JEST, etc.
- Age Limit: As per CSIR-UGC and DST guidelines.

Selection Process
- A screening committee will shortlist candidates based on the applications.
- Interview will be conducted via video-conferencing for eligible candidates.
- The final selection will be based on recommendations from the committee and the approval of the competent authority.
Please Note
- Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
- Incomplete applications or those not in the prescribed format will be rejected.
- No hard copies of applications are required at this stage.
- CIAB is located in Mohali, Punjab, but work may involve outstation tasks.
- No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
- The number of vacancies: 9 (General), 2 (OBC), 1 (SC), 1 (ST), 1 (EWS)
- Age relaxations will be provided as per government norms.
- CIAB reserves the right to modify the selection criteria or cancel the recruitment if no suitable candidates are found.
