The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, invites applications for PhD admissions (2025) exclusively for candidates qualified under NET Fellowships.
JIPMER PhD 2025 Programme Highlights

Eligibility
- Medical/Nursing Candidates: MD from an NMC-recognized medical college or MSc Nursing from an INC-recognized institution.
- Non-Medical Candidates: Master’s degree in relevant disciplines from a UGC-recognized Indian University with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates).
- Must have qualified in one of the following national entrance tests in the last two years:
- CSIR-UGC NET (JRF) / UGC-JRF / ICMR-JRF / DBT-JRF / DST-INSPIRE / equivalent fellowships.
- NET (Lectureship) qualification alone is NOT sufficient for eligibility.
Available Seats and Research Areas
- Biochemistry (3 seats) – Research on micro RNAs in cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and inflammation regulation.
- Medical Oncology (1 seat) – Focus on bone marrow microenvironment, metabolic profiling, and leukemia.
- Obstetrics & Gynaecology (1 seat) – Study on vaginal surgery outcomes and collagen tissue characteristics.

- Selection Process: Shortlisted candidates will appear for an online/offline viva voce examination conducted by the PhD Admission Committee.
- Rank list will be prepared based on viva voce performance.

Fee Structure
- Application Fee:
- General/OBC/EWS: ₹1,500 + transaction charges
- SC/ST: ₹1,200 + transaction charges
- PwD: Exempted from application fee
- Admission Fee: ₹3,000 (one-time)
- Annual Tuition Fee: ₹2,200
