About the MANAGE Diploma Program

The Post Graduate Diploma in Agricultural Extension Management (PGDAEM) is a distance learning programme launched in 2007 to enhance the capacity of public and private extension functionaries in India. The programme aims to build techno-managerial competence, update knowledge in agricultural extension, and develop participatory decision-making skills among professionals.


Programme Structure

  • Duration: 1 year (2 semesters)
  • Credits: 30 (15 credits per semester)
  • Mode: Distance Learning with contact classes and e-learning resources

Semester I Courses:

  • Introduction to Agricultural Extension
  • Facilitation for Development
  • Communication for Development
  • Gender Mainstreaming for Agricultural Development
  • Leadership and Management Skills

Semester II Courses:

  • Rural Sociology
  • Farm Business Management
  • Planning for Agricultural Management
  • Extension for Sustainable Agricultural Development
  • Project Work

Eligibility Criteria

  • For Government Employees:
    • In-service employees from Central/State/UT Governments with a graduate degree in Agriculture or allied sectors such as Horticulture, Veterinary Science, Fisheries, Dairy Science, Agricultural Engineering, Forestry, Sericulture, Home Science, and other related disciplines.
    • Employees working in Departments of Agriculture/Allied sectors, State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), and extension functionaries such as Block & Assistant Technology Managers (BTMs & ATMs) of ATMA and Subject Matter Specialists (SMSs) are eligible.
    • Preference will be given to employees from the above departments.
  • For Private Candidates:
    • Graduates in Agriculture, Allied disciplines, or other fields working in agri-business companies, NGOs, cooperatives, farmers’ organizations, agri-entrepreneurs, and input dealers are eligible to apply.

Admission Procedure

For Government Employees:

  1. Submit applications through immediate controlling authorities to the Project Director, ATMA of the concerned district.
  2. Applications will be forwarded to Director-SAMETI, then to the State Nodal Officer (SNO) for approval.
  3. Approved applications will be recommended to MANAGE for final admission.

For Private Candidates:

  • Submit applications directly to MANAGE, Hyderabad, or through designated study centers.
  • Pay a course fee of ₹15,000 in one installment via Demand Draft, online payment, or Google Pay.

Course Fee Structure

  • Government Employees: Subsidized by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, with state contributions based on region.
    • General States: 60% (GoI), 40% (State)
    • North-Eastern & Himalayan States: 90% (GoI), 10% (State)
    • Union Territories: 100% (GoI)
  • Private Candidates: ₹15,000 (self-financed)
