Forbes’ 2024-2025 ranking of America’s top colleges places Princeton University at No.1 for the second consecutive year.
The top 10 Institutes are as follows:
1. Princeton University (New Jersey)
2. Stanford University (California)
3. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (Massachusetts)
4. Yale University (Connecticut)
5. University of California, Berkeley (California)
6. Columbia University (New York)
7. University of Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania)
8. Harvard University (Massachusetts)
9. Rice University (Texas)
10. Cornell University (New York)
This ranking evaluates institutions based on factors such as student success, return on investment, and alumni influence.
Most surprising was that Rice University made a huge shift from No. 22 to No. 9, marking its first appearance in the top 10.

Many were delighted to see the leap of Rice University in the Forbes Top Colleges 2024 and some frowned. One wrote that no one is believing that Harvard is lower than Berkley, One Redditor said “Harvard being 8th place is crazy lmao”. As always college rankings has always been controversial and unlike corporates where there are tangible parameters to measure, college rankings tend to be abstract (at least more than companies) and hence should be taken with a pinch of salt.
